By joining the biggest community of bird lovers in Australia, you can help us make a positive impact on the future of our native birdlife. The members of BirdLife Australia, along with our supporters and partners, have been powerful advocates for native birds and the conservation of their habitats since 1901.

We are also the meeting ground for everyone with an interest in birds from the curious backyard observer to the dedicated research scientist. It doesn’t matter what your interest in birds is or how much you know about them, your membership will offer you the opportunity to increase your awareness and enjoyment.

Birdlife Australia would be delighted to welcome you as a new member and we look forward to sharing our news and achievements with you throughout the coming year.

Conservation Forum

The Conservation Forum is a one-day convention which is a great opportunity for our supporters and interested scientists, conservationists and bird lovers to find out about BirdLife Australia, our projects, conservation activities, as well as birds in general.

Held annually, it is a day where a range of expert researchers, students, professional and amateur ornithologists and birdwatchers give informative talks on a variety of aspects relating to Australian birds and their conservation.

There are lively discussions, and plenty of staff and volunteers who are willing to answer any bird-related questions you may have. The aim of the day is to enlighten people about conservation issues and how BirdLife Australia and others are helping our birds.

The Conservation Forum has been held in various regional centres and capital cities. In this way, people who are usually unable to attend such a function can go along. These Forums have become a tradition since they were first held in the 1980s, and normally incorporate our Annual General Meeting. Some long-time supporters may remember past Forums billed as Members’ Day or Scientific Day.
