By joining the biggest community of bird lovers in Australia, you can help us make a positive impact on the future of our native birdlife. The members of BirdLife Australia, along with our supporters and partners, have been powerful advocates for native birds and the conservation of their habitats since 1901.

We are also the meeting ground for everyone with an interest in birds from the curious backyard observer to the dedicated research scientist. It doesn’t matter what your interest in birds is or how much you know about them, your membership will offer you the opportunity to increase your awareness and enjoyment.

Birdlife Australia would be delighted to welcome you as a new member and we look forward to sharing our news and achievements with you throughout the coming year.

BirdLife Mildura

BirdLife Mildura is situated in the northwest corner of Victoria.  We are fortunate to have a range of habitats to explore from riverine red gum and black box forests with billabongs to shallow, saline drainage lakes and vast areas of mallee including the Murray-Sunset National Park.

Hattah Lakes, located south of Mildura in the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park, is a large wetland system with shallow lakes, creeks and temporary swamps.  It is an important site for migratory birds.

Across the Murray River in NSW we can visit other large areas of mallee and riverine woodlands.

Our membership, of approximately 40, comes from the river towns in NSW and from Mildura and surrounding districts.

Meetings are held at the Carnegie Centre, 74 Deakin Avenue, Mildura on the first Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm.

The club has regular monthly outings usually with a couple of weekend camp-outs during the year.  The outings are planned to make the most of the various habitats and in consideration of the weather.

Regular surveys are also done in addition to the outings.  There are 3 surveys of Trust for Nature’s Ned’s Corner Station 80km west of Mildura each year where there are 15 designated sites to be surveyed.

Other regular surveys occur at the Mildura Wastewater Treatment Centre, and for Lower Murray Water at their offset site.
