By joining the biggest community of bird lovers in Australia, you can help us make a positive impact on the future of our native birdlife. The members of BirdLife Australia, along with our supporters and partners, have been powerful advocates for native birds and the conservation of their habitats since 1901.

We are also the meeting ground for everyone with an interest in birds from the curious backyard observer to the dedicated research scientist. It doesn’t matter what your interest in birds is or how much you know about them, your membership will offer you the opportunity to increase your awareness and enjoyment.

Birdlife Australia would be delighted to welcome you as a new member and we look forward to sharing our news and achievements with you throughout the coming year.

Give our birds a voice

Your support allows us protect Australia's birds, and connect with and inspire others to do the same.

You can help us protect our native birds

BirdLife Australia has been Australia’s voice for birds since 1901 and we are dedicated to achieving outstanding conservation results for our native birds and their habitats.

By becoming involved in BirdLife Australia, you are not merely joining a group of enthusiastic, like-minded people, you are making a positive contribution to conservation.

Birds are key indicator species of the health of our environment – when birds are not doing well, the entire system is likely to be under stress. And to be frank, many of Australia's birds are in serious trouble with more than 200 species in decline around the country.

We know this largely due to the many ongoing projects of BirdLife Australia, such as the Atlas of Australian Birds. Through other programs like the Threatened Bird Network, we are actively working to save not only particular species but also the habitat on which they depend.

These and many other conservation and research projects would not be possible without the people who support our efforts, through becoming members, donating funds or volunteering their time.
